by Mission First Housing

BORDENTOWN CITY — A crowd of busy workers could be seen inside the red-brick walls of the historic clothing factory at Ann and Spring streets Wednesday, as construction started on a project to turn the building into 48 low-rent senior housing units.

Philadelphia nonprofit Mission First is overseeing the project, which will preserve the exterior of the 19th-century building. Construction will take about one year, and the apartments will rent for $617 to $769 monthly for a one-bedroom unit, said Mark Deitcher, Mission First’s director of business development.
