Spring City >> The first housing project for veterans in Chester County broke ground during a ceremony Wednesday.

A crowd of about 40 people gathered to officially kick off the creation of 48 apartments in East Vincent Township. Mission First Housing Group will renovate the existing historic Whitehall Inn, located at 3795 Schuylkill Road, and construct a new addition that will create a permanent housing for at least 50 veterans.
