March 9, 2020 – Philadelphia, PA – The TD Charitable Foundation, the charitable giving arm of TD Bank, America’s Most Convenient Bank®, recently donated $125,000 to Mission First Housing Group as part of the foundation’s Housing for Everyone grant competition. A total of $3.75 million was provided to 30 nonprofits to improve access to safe, clean and affordable housing in communities from Maine to Florida.

Mission First Housing Group develops and manages affordable, safe and sustainable homes for people in need, with a focus on the most vulnerable. A nonprofit organization working to ensure everyone has a safe, affordable place to call home, Mission First currently provides affordable housing and services to over 5,000 people in nearly 3,800 apartments, including veterans, survivors of domestic violence, seniors and the disabled.

The funds from the TD Charitable Foundation will support Mission First’s Parkside Neighborhood Preservation, allowing for the essential renovations of 82 scattered site affordable apartments in 16 buildings in the East Parkside neighborhood of West Philadelphia. The work will build upon the City of Philadelphia’s recent $5.4 million improvement to Fairmount Park, as well as investment and commitments for new athletic fields, transit improvements and infill development along nearby 52nd Street. The majority of apartments will serve individuals below 30% of Area Median Income and thirty-five of the 82 units currently serve individuals with disabilities.
