Mission First Housing Group and PCCA come together

Philadelphia, PA— Mission First Housing Group is pleased to welcome Philadelphia Council for Community Advancement (PCCA) as the newest member of its family of nonprofits dedicated to ensuring everyone has an affordable, safe and sustainable place to call home.

“The alliance with PCCA further strengthens Mission First’s commitment to disenfranchised residents of West Philadelphia communities by adding additional services to the programming already offered by our member ACHIEVEability” said Alfredo de la Pena, Chief Executive Officer of Mission First Housing Group. ACHIEVEability is a service organization focused on breaking the generational cycle of poverty for low income, single parent and homeless families with strong community ties in the Haddington and Cobbs Creek neighborhoods of West Philadelphia.

The alliance coincides with PCCA’s long-time Executive Director Jeffrey Cruse’s retirement from PCCA to pursue his passion for affordable housing development with the Maple Corporation. Cruse worked closely with Mission First during the planning and development stages of the alliance, and is confident that Mission First’s financial stability will allow PCCA to continue and expand their housing counseling work.

“This is a win-win for the community,” Cruse remarked. “Joining with Mission First, an organization known for strong organizational capacity and high quality housing and services, will improve outcomes for households struggling with the critical issues of housing insecurity.”

PCCA has operated in the Philadelphia region for 55 years, and their strategic alliance with Mission First will preserve the essential community resources they provide for hundreds of homeowners, renters, individuals and families each year.

PCCA is a HUD-approved Housing Counseling agency whose professional housing counseling staff provide services including: Pre-purchase Counseling, Delinquency and Default Counseling, Credit Repair Advice, Foreclosure Mitigation Services and Financial Literacy Workshops. To date PCCA’s highly qualified and experienced housing counselors have assisted more than 80,000 families and individuals.
