On May 27, Mayor Muriel Bowser joined development partners Mission First Housing Group, Far SW-SE CDC and Lydia’s House to celebrate the grand opening of Trinity Plaza, a newly constructed 49-unit affordable housing complex in the Bellevue neighborhood of Washington DC located at 21 Atlantic Street SW.

“Trinity Plaza is an example of what our Housing Production Trust Fund can deliver for residents. That’s why we need to protect these funds not just today but every day,” said Mayor Bowser. “This development furthers our pledge to increase quality affordable housing opportunities for residents, develop our most underserved communities, and build pathways to the middle class.”

In addition to the Mayor, Polly Donaldson, Director, DC Department of Housing and Community Development; Maria K. Day-Marshall, Interim Executive Director, District of Columbia Housing Finance Agency; Sarah Constant, Managing Director, Mission First Housing Group; Brian Tracey, Senior Vice President, Bank of America Merrill Lynch; Edmund Delany, Senior Vice President, Capital One Bank; Theresa H. Jones, Commissioner, Advisory Neighborhood Commission 8D; George W. Brown, Chair, and S. Patrice Sheppard, Executive Director, Far SW-SE Community Development Corporation made remarks on the community impact of this project and cut the ribbon as part of the ceremony.

Mission First Housing Group has completed the ground-up construction of 49 rental units in a four story building with ground level parking and retail. 100% of the 49 units are affordable. Project financing includes tax exempt bonds credit enhanced through Bank of America, 4% tax credits, and DC Department of Housing and Community Development gap financing.

“It has been a long road to complete this project and we are so happy to open the doors of Trinity Plaza to its new residents,” said Sarah Constant, Managing Director for Mission First Housing Group. “This project along with so many others we have worked on in DC, and successful because of the key partners we have in the community.”

Mission First will be a joint owner of the residential condo with Far SW-SE CDC under the low income housing tax credit structure, while the CDC and Lydia’s House will own the retail condo.
