EAST VINCENT >> A new affordable housing center looking to help veterans opened its doors to the public.

About 150 people were in attendance Wednesday as Mission First Housing Group held a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony for The Whitehall, the first housing project for veterans in Chester County.

The project renovated the existing historic Whitehall Inn, located at 3795 Schuylkill Road, and constructed a new addition to create 48 permanent supportive housing apartments for veterans in need — The Whitehall Apartments. Mission First developed The Whitehall in response to a local need for housing for veterans and a national effort to end veterans homelessness.
