Goal
Preservation of affordable housing in York County, PA
Description
Princess Street Apartments received funding allocations from the York County Planning Commission and PHFA to preserve a critical affordable housing resource in West York Borough. The three-story brick building includes six one-bedroom units and 22 two-bedroom apartments. Originally constructed in 1899, the building is the former Ashley and Baily Company Silk Mill, and was converted to housing in 1993 with an allocation of Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. This new infusion of capital funds will allow for the replacement of energy efficient windows, a new roof, masonry repointing, lead based paint remediation, new flooring, and other interior improvements.
Funding provided by York County Planning Commission HOME/CDBG, Pennsylvania Housing Finance PHARE and Mission First Capital Magnet Funds.
