Goal

Reclaimed blighted lot, key part of revitalization efforts in this West Philadelphia neighborhood

Description

This abandoned lot was a neighborhood eyesore for years. As a part of the City of Philadelphia’s campaign to reclaim blighted lots, Mission First Housing Group worked to clear up outstanding real estate tax issues and redevelop the property.

 

Mission First Housing Group received funding from the HUD Section 811 Capital Advance program to build this 2-story, 10-unit building. A part of the larger neighborhood revitalization efforts, the building – and the accompanying park across the street – add a sense of vibrancy to the neighborhood.

 

Financing for the Melon project was provided through the HUD Section 811 Capital advance program, City of Philadelphia HOME funds and an Affordable Housing Program grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh.
