Description
Mission First partnered with First Rock Baptist Church Foundation to complete the new construction of this 74-unit senior building at 4638 H Street SE. To meet the needs of the church and its congregation, the building was designed to also include a daycare center, separate from the apartment building.
Completed in 2006, J.W. King Senior Center provides 74 bright and modern units to residents age 62 and over. Apartments include individual heat/air conditioning controls, state of the art kitchen amenities, including built-in microwaves in every unit, wall-to-wall carpet and a laundry room on each floor. The large community room and adjacent landscaped patio serve as the social hub for residents.
The building was financed with tax exempt bonds through the DC Housing Finance Agency under the HUD risk share program, gap financing through DHCD, and low income housing tax credit equity through RBC Capital Markets. The development receives project based subsidy from the DC Housing Authority, so residents pay no more than 30% of their income in rent.
