Goal
Adaptive reuse of historically certified former office building former affordable housing
Description
Part of the first Low Income Housing Tax Credit project ever done by Mission First, the office building on the corner of 13th and Juniper in Center City was gut rehabilitated into 15 apartments for homeless persons with behavioral health needs in 1997. The project had funding through equity through low income tax credits and historic rehabilitation credits, in addition to a City of Philadelphia Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), a HUD Supported Housing Program grant, and Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh Affordable Housing Program funds. The apartments provide permanent supportive housing for the residents, with case management and other supportive services provided through a partnership with Resources for Human Development.
